Sirui tripod falling apart...? Warranty problems

Postby haring on Fri Jul 10, 2015 2:23 am

I bought a SiRui M-3205X tripod 2-3 years ago. One of the leg is falling off and the center column is falling apart. It was an expensive tripod ($500).
SiRui offers a 6 year warranty for the tripod. I have tried to send them an email and call them but so far no answer.

Question: How do you deal with SiRui for warranty issues? What can I do? Should I trow it into the trash? Is there a place I can order spare parts?

I've never heard of them.

From where did you buy this? Have they been of any help?

Gary Sirui is one of the Chinese startups that have made inroads into the traditional preserve of the big photo companies. I suspect they are hurting bad in the current economic climate in China.

Sorry haring, Can't help you. While I know of the brand, I have never bought from them. From memory, Cameron (aim54x) has used their gear. He may know more.

Have you tried using a screwdriver to tighten things up?

If you purchased the tripod from a retailer then take it back to him. If you purchased it using Ebay then maybe your credit card supplier may have a warranty service or perhaps Ebay themselves might be able to help. Don't give up though, see it as a challenge to hunt them down. :D

lol your kidding right? your clearly a pro photographer and this should come as no surprise, 500 for a tripod is middle of the range, brands like gitzo can be up around 700... then you start adding on various types of ball heads like Really Right Stuff , those alone can be 500 bucks.

Sirui are a great brand but are definitely on the cheaper end of the scale. a few guys here have them and I have not heard of any significant issues with them, frankly they are excellent value for what you get.

Thanks so much for the response! I have called the company. I will try to get a replacement fastening nut for the leg.
I have a gitzo as well so it is not urgent but I hope I can fix it!
