These are shot handheld and in AF-C mode.
Thought I would share these with you in case you think about buying a VR70-200. :D :)

d70,
More nice pics to come from your talent! and your gears
These pics make people drool over the 70-200VR and TC-17 now!
So the 70-200VR + TC-17E II will be on the book of someone soon.

Are you sure these aren't stuffed birds hanging by fine threads in front of screens with backgounds photoshopped in later?

Only kidding, they are exceptional, well done

Those are great pictures. I really like the way the birds leap out at you.

The only problem is that I have to put even more gear on the shopping list. And it's hard enough drumming up the budget for the camera and basic kit. Oh well, just one of the joys of good camera gear - the desire to have more to achieve more. Of course, I could just perform miracles with the gear at hand ... but if I do that I'll never get the D70!

Cheers,
Gordon.

Man oh man, I'd be posting those pics too! Outstanding shots. Was blown away by the first one, but the second one trumps it. Love the starkness against the pure blue sky.

Something about the lighting on the bird seems unnatural..was flash used?

This is by no means a criticism, I think the shots are scrumptious!

To all of you, thank you very much for the fine critique.

No flash is used, fortunately a very low hanging sun was in my back.

Cheers,
Flemming.
