Monday evening snap post processing challenge.

No prizes ... just for a bit of fun.

Here's a couple of images of Ella from last Saturday at Sheepie's.

They're straight out of the D200, and have only been resized. I'm not going to tell you what I think needs to be done, but I'd like to see what all y'all can do with these.

Click through the images' links to get full size versions of these.

Let's see what y'all can come up with. I'll probably close this down around 10 tonight. Enjoy.

All very nice attempts, but I personally like what MATT has done.

Interestingly, like Daniel above I added noise to my B & W treatment.

Very cool - I like the idea of adding noise in the B&W conversion... might have to try that!

The adding of the noise into the B&W is interesting, but it looks too "introduced" to me.

What I found wrong with these images was the distractions in the background - these were just grabs, really - but in having those distractions, I also had the little wisps of hair off to the side of Ella's face and accross those backgrounds that I thought are particularly attractive, in that they add to the attraction of these images for me.

That's where I'd probably be taking my PP on these ... or maybe running with a square crop.

Thanx all for playing ... and if others want to play some more ... please do so.

OK here is my take on it.
Obvioulsy it is a crop and B/W treatment, but I also cloned out some of the BG.

I don't normally like noise either. The photoshop stuff I added is really bad. But somewhere I have a scan of some blank film with real grain, overlaying that can sometimes work.

I also went with a B&W conversion, for no other reason than I prefer B&W portraits :D

edit: After working off the smaller size JPG :( , and recompressing, it looks like there's a bit of tonal clipping... next time, I'll read the message better and use the high res version!

Heath, I really like your crop.
