POTW 09.03.10

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

POTW 09.03.10

Postby Geoff on Thu Mar 11, 2010 9:40 am

Apologies for the lateness of this POTW coming. I've been somewhat absent from the forum of late for personal reasons. I hope you're all well though!

I have spent about an hour sifting through all the wonderful images and I kept coming back to this thread by Alex and his kids. Some may say I have a bias towards family/child portraiture, that may be,or maybe I just am looking forward to the day I have my own kid/s to take a zillion photos of. I think the 3rd image in this series is delightful. The eye contact, the light (and catchlight) as well as the B&W conversion all work for me.

If I were being super critical, in a perfect world I would love to have seen the little one's right arm/hand in full..but working with kids you sometimes just have to get what you shoot, or shoot what you get? Here's the original image:

Congratulations Alex! Well done.
