Picture of the week - May 16, 2006

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

My turn.

And my choice this week is by Marty.

Image

Great composition, with intelligent use of framing within the image, and excellent use of depth of field.

And the colours are just beautiful. Whike the primary subject seems to be almost monochromatic, the graffiti belies this, and brings the image to .... er .... life?

You've achieved a lot of depth / layers in this shot, and no matter what it's titled it's a deserving winner :lol: :lol:

Marty - congrats on such a fantastic image. It has that real grungy feel to it and as already said, with it's near 3D effect, makes you want to step into it and go exploring. Well done mate! Excellent choice Gary.

Thanks for the selection of POTW, I am very happy to be chosen.
There are many great images posted on this forum, so to be chosen is certainly an honour to me.
And thanks to everbody who replied to my original post and to this post.
I see beauty in many things, generally the older, grottier, rustier, dirtier and more run-down the subjects are, the more I love to shoot them.
Will post more images of recently found 'Urban Beauty' locations soon.

Good image, depth and colour, not to forget image title, make it an interesting picture. It has to be a building owned by NSW state rail :)
