PotW - 5 July 2011

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

PotW - 5 July 2011

Postby the foto fanatic on Wed Jul 06, 2011 10:32 am

I really loved looking at the images this week - there are some absolute crackers!

I don't normally do this, but I want to mention a couple that didn't get selected but captured my interest:

- Big V's series of astrophotographs here
- Remorhaz's series on St Andrew's Cathedral here

And, to top all of that off, I have selected joint winners too! These images are as different as you can get, but each is quite arresting in its own way.

Remorhaz AGAIN (loving these interior shots) for his pop-art look at Sydney Town Hall here.

And the other joint winner is this whimsical portrait from Willy Wombat's visit to Cuba here

I tossed a coin to determine the image that is to be shown on the portal page and the winner was Willy Wombat.

Congratulations to those mentioned here. Now let's see if we can see some even better ones this week!

Congratulations to the joint winners (both top shots) and those that made the shortlist :)

I'm celebrating finding my Nikon battery charger today, it's been missing since January.

Both great photos but the chicken man is a classic. Well deserved and chosen.
