POTW - December 6, 2011

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

POTW - December 6, 2011

My, how time flies when you're having fun.

One minute it's New Year's Eve, and the next time you look, it's less than three weeks till Christmas.

And I suspect that's a little how Peter (Stubbsy) must be feeling following his epic trip to the Antarctic, plus a few other destinations, last year. Was that really a year ago? Yep, sure was.

Since that trip, Peter has been busy processing the multitude of images he shot on that trip, he's created three remarkable photo books documenting the trip, and he's posted more than a few wonderful images that he shot, right here, on DSLRUsers.com.

Included amongst them is this gem, a 20 shot pano, made in Iguazu Argentina, with the Nikkor 70-200mm lens.

Image

This is an image - a scene - where it is truly not possible to accurately convey to a viewer the true scale of what you are seeing at this location. But I suspect that a 20 image pano, printed big, might help with that "problem".

Great shot, Peter. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Great photo - I would love to see this in real life. But that means going to Argentina - not a shade on Chile :)

Been a while since I was good enought to beat the competition for POTW. Thanks for selecting my image. Now I just need to work out how big it needs to be printed to (a) fit in my house and (b) do the image justice.

Sorry Peter. These are mutually exclusive goals.
Well done by the way. An awesome photo of an awesome location. Though It doesn't do them justice. I doubt anything would. I think they measure the flow in SydHarbs per second.
