POTW-18-08-2015

This weeks winner is this charming portrait of a pair of senior citizens by ozimax. Good portraits are compelling, interesting and engage the viewer. Here, we get a sense of time and place and we wonder what life the subjects have lived. We sense their spirit, their souls, their personalities and we try and see them in accord with the background. Ozi's image ticks all the boxes and he wisely captures them gazing directly into the camera...almost as if they are watching and acknowledging us......the viewers. I also love the gritty B&W conversion, which suits the subject perfectly. Well done ozimax!

Thanks Matt. I thought of cloning out the clotheslines, but I left them in. I think it shows the character of the little housing commission flat in which they live.
