Mini meet

Postby christiand on Mon Oct 17, 2005 10:59 pm

Hi all,

What about a Canberra mini meet ?
We have a number of enthusiasts perhaps also professionals
in CBR.
I'd love to meet my fellow photographers.
We could have a cuppa, photo shoot, piss up, sensor cleaning,
show me your's, I'll show your mine and exchange of knowledge,
go up Gordon hill and enjoy the views etc etc ...

Any suggestions are very welcome.
My place is available and I'm looking forward to your responses.

Regards,
CD

Depending on date i am very keen.

I would love to try out a macro lense if anyone is willing to let me borrow one for the afternoon.

Yep, I would be up for one most definately. I would love to be able to faces to names around here . . . . .

However, this time of year is beginning to look nasty. Uni exams are starting very soon, and, well, time management has never been my forte! :D

My personal preference is most definately the weekend of 12-13 November.
See what discussion turns up . . . . .

I know it's a bit ahead, but I will be in Canberra on the weekend 17-18 December if anyone is keen to do a mini-meet or something...

I will have my camera gear with me and would be happy for people to test any of my lenses out (50 1.4, 20 2.8, 60 macro, 70-200 VR)... will also have a couple of Cokin ND filters (and the attachments, of course!).

Cheers
Rae

Rae,

unfortunately I'll be out of Canberra that weekend :(

I'm sure if some of the other Canberra guys see the post they might be able to meet up with you.

I also will not be available then. I am leaving on the 18th November, and will not return until 13th February 06. A hard earned break from Uni is certainly in order, and it gives me a few months to exercise my photography skills at home, in Queensland. :D

Any other takers for this weekend?

Hi Daniel,

thanks for bumping the thread.
I would like to meet and the venue could be the rose gardens next
to the old Parliament.
Not knowing if there is a potential of getting wet (rain ???) we might have to consider indoors.
If indoors, we could consider the National Gallery.
Photos are allowed in most of the areas if no flash is used.

Looking forward to getting a meeting happening.

G'day All,

I just checked the weather forecast, and it is Sunny until Monday, with a possible shower then. I would quite happily agree with the Rose Gardens @ Old Parliament House.

What day? Saturday or Sunday?

I saw them at Woden shopping Centre a few weeks ago. They are busy renovating their house.

WW,

I'll have my AF-D 50/1.4 there :D

Between the other members I'm sure you'll find someone that has the 50/1.8 to compare as well.

Can't help on the macro front - I'm saving for the next best thing, the Canon 500D close-up in 77mm.

Looking forward to meeting you.

It was great to meet the crew today and special thanks to Peter for lending me his gear for a play. I learnt a lot about equipment.

Thanks everyone for coming,

It was a nice turn up;
Scott, Steve, Tristan, Daniel, Christian, Peter.
I left my USB cable in the office and my card reader is on
a honey moon in Fiji.
Photos can be posted tomorrow.

regards,
Christian

Well after some embarrasment on my part stemming from our little meeting - I finally updated my firmware last night. I feel better to be able to admit that now. It was so easy
