Coolpix P6000

Postby chrisk on Wed Oct 15, 2008 8:21 pm

anyone know anyone that has one ? has it even been released ? i cant find any reviews on it, nothing. for a "flagship" camera this seems bizarre to me that there is just zero info out there apart from specs. there are barely any flickr photos either.

i want a P&S for xmas and the p6000 seemed ideal for me cos i can use the sb400 on it aswell. but the more time goes on without any kind of feedback the more i think that it may end up being just a big pile of crap. do you guys think that new RAW format has buried it ? what gives ???

They are in store already, dont know anyone that has one yet though. I think the new Windows RAW has put a dent into its potential.

apparently ADOBE can edit it, it is just a format designed by MicroSHIT. I am just hoping that Nikon bring back NEF as an option in a firmware upgrade

i especially like this conclusion...lol

Conclusion: If you need pixels, you need the Canon, hands down. If you need the fast, wide, defect-free lens, you need the Panasonic. You don't need the Coolpix.

I bought my wife one for her trip to VietNam. (And also to offset the sting of me buying a D700 :) )

I didnt take many images with it, but had a bit of a play. Has a really nice solid feel to it, with a 'retro' type of design, nice large control wheels etc, also a nice heavy feel, like it's a solid construction. It is very easy to drive, with the manual settings extremely easy to use, without needing to read the instructions. LCD is big and bright also.

I got my from Teds on the Gold Coast, near Australia Fair.
2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc
