Personally I would go for a bit of gaffa tape or similar covering the switch, so that it's harder to accidentally knock out of whack. While I prefer to switch to M using the switch on the lens, I swap between C and S reasonably often so I wouldn't simply remove the switch.

I agree...tape it up so that you don't devalue your camera...or..make a small wedge and tap it under the switch to jam it up. You could remove the wedge at any time.
