Lens Game!

Okay it's not really a game, but I'm wondering if anyone can help me ID what mount this is;

I've googled and googled but can't quite make a match. I've only ever used Nikon so I don't have any experience with other mounts.

The lens itself was given to me as a freeby - no idea how old it is. It's marked as a Cimko, MC, MT Series, f4.5, 80-200. It's a pretty cool old thing and I've love to get a converter to use it manual on my Nikon - but don't know if this will be possible.

Cool that it was a freebie, my guess and this is only a stab in the dark is that it could be pentax. But I don't know mounts very well either.

Older pentax is my gut feeling as well, although I have no real basis for that guess, can you provide a profile and 1/4 view shot as well?

EDIT: I spent a few minutes looking online and have found this site but nothing there matches. I would not cross off the Konica-Minolta mount though

I agree, it looks very much like a Pentax K mount.

I do think Cimko had a lot of pentax lenses. And it looks similar - but the static aperture lever looks like it's in a different spot to most Pentax K mounts I've seen on the net, and the dynamic aperture lever looks to short.

I'll get a profile shot tonight.

Sorry, what's a 1/4 shot? Just a closer shot of the bayonet in this case?

I think what Cameron means is an angled shot so the 3D relationship of the elements is clearer.

FWIW I also think Pentax K, though I don't agree with those that call this an "old" mount. I stopped buying Pentax when they dropped the screw mount. I looked at the new bayonet system & thought "Nahh - it'll never take off"
Besides the early Pentax K cameras looked and felt like S**t.

Maybe a PM to Big Red will confirm or deny. He seems to have a fairly major Pentax collection.

I'm thinking it's a Canon FD Mount.

Could also be an OM mount.

What are the measurements of the bayonet tags. The Oly ones are each different, I make a local one 16mm 18mm and 22mm (roughly with ruler). The placement looks similar to your photo.

This is what I was going through last night!! Pentax, Canon, Olympus were all contenders.

But the more I look around now I think you are on to something with the Olympus call. The tags (which I'll measure tonight) look like they are in the correct location relative to the aperture levers, as well as the lens release button (to the right).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

It almost doesn't matter what mount that lens is - because of the relatively large flange-to-film distance on Nikon, the options for lens adaption are very limited. If it's an OM Mount, it's based on 46mm FtF and the Nikon body is 46.5mm. Infinity focus would not be possible. Both Canon FD and Pentax are similarly shorter than Nikon.

Well lets flag this one as solved then!

I did measure the tags - 16,18 and 22 as Mike said.

I don't mind if I can't focus at infinity, just a few km should do :D

I did take a couple of shots (holding the lens in front of the camera) and it produced nicer images than a tamron 70-300 i used a few months back. But if there's no quick n easy fix for using it and won't focus correctly then I'd say it's time to give up.

Thanks for the help!

Hopefully I gave the '2 for 1' offer a bit of a help along...
