The quandary.

Postby ozimax on Wed Feb 25, 2015 3:23 pm

Is it quandry or quandary? I think the latter but I stand to be corrected. In any case, here is my quandary:

Last week I purchased a brand spanking new Mazda 3 Maxx, for the wife of course. (I test drove a Toyota 86, but I don't think Robyn was impressed. After 32+ years of marriage she deserved a sensible, practical, economical car, which is what I purchased. It killed me to do so....)

I don't like to carry debt of any kind, (except a mortgage), so I need to balance the books after this purchase. I have to choose between selling either my 1989 Maxda MX5, or my camera gear. It's a tough choice. To be honest, Coffs Harbour is not the best place for a convertible. I have used about one tank's worth of motoring since last October, such is the dreadful rainy weather here of late. (We're already approaching 1000mm for the year, and it's only February.) However, driving the little MX5 is such a blast, despite it's age. On the other hand, I do like taking photos and the Fuji X series is a superb all round system.

Decisions, decisions. Any advice (humorous or otherwise) from the forum sages will be received gratefully.

Ozi.

You don't have a problem at all then.

Just draw down the required funds from your mortgage and the world will rebalance in front of your eyes.

Definitely a good idea. But between the car and hte gear I would probably say the car if you are not using it. You seem to be using the gear though.

Sell them both and buy a new camera.

or sell them both and take up fishing.. its cheaper.

or sell them both to me for cheap and feel all the better for it ;)

or sell them both and take your chances with the lottery .. it could be a cracker ;)

I'm still leaning towards selling the wife as I can't fish for nuts. Or play golf for that matter. :biglaugh:

I did get a trade in quote on a new blonde model. However, the new blonde model can't cook, sew or grow veggies. She can only take selfies, so I think I'll stick with the tried and trusted Mk1 version...

That's what I was thinking.

Or, given the absence of a convertible in my life .... :) Maybe a MX5 might work for me?

Seriously, the 3 is a great car. Leigh and his then fiance bought one in about July. They've since married and couldn't be happier, despite the marriage.

Hahaha loved reading through this thread..... as a woman, I think if you re checked the budget and moved a few things around you might be able to afford both.... if not then...... the car would or could make some great memories, but then the camera gear captures all those memories and more.....so your in a spot of bother....any old stuff lying around you could gumtree it and try earn some money!! lol
