My D700 arrived today

With everyone getting new bodies, I think that separate section for you to proudly display your first image from your new acquisition is in order.

This applies to brand new bodies, as well as bodies that are simply newly acquired by you.

Gary, just add a CMOS to your shoebox and pin. Then you have a contender. You will also need LARGE prints and space in an art gallery.

Tasadam, at what point did you receive the tracking info? I don't think I've ever received tracking info with a Poon order.

The online tracking number was not updated on the Bargains page (the order link there). I received an email about 5 days after payment, advising me of a tracking number, by which time the lens had already left HK.
This may be a separate procedure, as mine was a split order, having paid for a lens and a D300, but the D300 wasn't available so just the lens was sent, a week later I paid the balance for the D700.
If you have further questions on this issue, I recommend perhaps asking Gary. But, so long as it arrives within 10 days as per FAQ or wherever that was stated, all should be fine.

If it's through the forum, then normally you should expect to receive an email with the tracking info, and I generally pass those on immediately I have the information from Poon.

If I don't have this information after around seven days, then I ask Poon for a status update. Anything earlier than this sort of timeframe is simply not a workable practical proposition, hence the stipulations in the FAQ. Usually the whole system works so that you will have your equipment delivered within that timeframe, but that is all dependent upon stocks in HK being available to ship immediately your payment clears and is reconciled to your order.

But my working goal is that I can keep you appraised of your order's status within those sorts of timeframes, and I think that mostly, I achieve those outcomes.

FWIW, I'm awaiting a status update on your order, and one other as well.

Thanks Gary,

I wasn't trying to rush things. I had read th FAQ and was just curious re the tracking number since I've not seen one on my previous orders :) .

Not trying to go OT but I had a play with the D3x today and was mighty impressed. I've managed to hire one for a few days for a current job and it looks like this will have to be the next order to Poon :) .

Cheers

It's a most impressive camera.

So is my new D700

I've programmed the function button to show the camera level feature. Pretty darn useful feature, that! Good for testing myself on how good a job I do by eye.

I really like that snazzy switch on the eyepiece to activate a shutter & block it off. I can see that being used for the type of stuff I do.

Can't wait to go on a big walk and put it through its paces properly.

I've been spending a bit of time setting up my gallery, link in my signature. Nothing from the D700 there though... YET!
