New photo of Saturn

Postby the foto fanatic on Fri Mar 04, 2005 7:18 am

For killa and our other astronomical photogs, here is a link to National Geographic's recent newsletter, which has a new picture of Saturn.

The picture is made up from 126 images and would be 320cm wide at its normal size:

I awtched a program a while back about the Casini project which simply blew my mind. That is one terrific picture, but the project to get it is even more so.

Does anyone know what sort of shutter speeds they use to take those photos? I have never seen a photo of Saturn with the orbiting stuff (the rings) frozen by high shutter speeds. :?
