Avoid use of chars like & and spaces in image filenames

Those nice to know things about your DSLR will be found here. How to do this, and why you probably should not do that.

Avoid use of chars like & and spaces in image filenames

Postby stubbsy on Wed Jan 26, 2005 9:34 am

This came up in another post. Thought I'd share.

If you have a low ASCII value character like & or a space in an image name the img tags won't work to embed the image in a post because HTML doesn't like such characters. You can avoud this by using the HTML % or &# syntax instead (eg you'd use %26 for & and %20 for a space). If the url being used comes from a posted html (eg on pixspot) this is done for you, but if you type it by hand this can be a trap.

Basically any character in the first column in this useful chart should be replaced by the text in the second column.

For example the first below fails, the second doesn't. Only diff is use of %26 and %20.

This is the only non D70 pic in my galleries - taken with my old Kodak DC4800.
