I surely will be entering this competition! This is great for an artist's artistic ability and great for the community! :)

I would like to thank all those of you who have commented so favourably on my 10sec exposure shot. The comparisons with Malevich's White on White are flattering. And with the cover of The Beatles (AKA The White Album).

I couldn't enter this shot in the comp because of the PP work which has been done - in particular the application of the "Polar Bear in a Snowstorm" filter which was cranked in at 100%. I also tweaked the contrast.

Matt K, I cannot endorse the removal of the frame, the frame is fundamental to the internal integrity of the image, and a frameless version may create unrest and disharmony.

I have tried printing the image, but my otherwise wonderful i965 does not seem to have any white ink. Very frustrating.

:D

Greg... can you please advise... what aperture used... and even more important what white balance setting did you use :?: :?: :?:

It's always good to know how others have nailed difficult exposures like these for future reference. :?

Greg, I'm pretty sure you could MacGyver something up so that your printer can include a white ink using white out/liquid paper ;)

I am planning to enter, but I need a new tripod I think. My light Manfrotto doesn't like my heavy 20D and heavy 70-200.

(Birddog, did you get my PM about the alum Gitzos? )

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

I think this challenge is not the easiest one, though handholding is out of question + people have to have the sturdy tripod system + techniques.

Out of interest I search through my database and found 20 images with 10s exposures. I like some of them a lot (and I have some ideas for a few more) but the challenge now is choosing a single image to submit!

Got home today to find Mr.UPS had delivered an RRS L-plate today. It's nice to get presents, even if you had to pay for them yourself!

You're spot on there. Did a shot a couple of nights ago of the sky (see potofgrasses test page) at the night sky and got a wiggle from the start of a plane trail - that happened when the shutter wobbled the camera.

It's funny not being able to see the other submissions before the deadline. Probably lots of people took the same photo I did, and I don't know, so I can't change my entry to something more unique. :)

Ah well, there's the rub Potatis... I believe that that rule was introduced so that people wouldn't copy other's ideas... It works both ways I suppose...
I'd be surprised if anyone has taken the same photo as me though :-)
