Challenge 11: Bubbles!

Postby MHD on Tue Aug 29, 2006 9:50 am

Thats right, in continuation of proud DSLRusers tradition, its time for the next Challenge:
Challenge 11: Bubbles!
Entries valid; from RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!
Gallery opens: By Monday 4/9
close entries and open voting on the 2/10
close voting and announce winner on 9/10

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
They come in many forms: in bubble wrap, in champagne, in your morning cappuccino, or perhaps in your child's playing (with some liquid soap), or maybe even in the form of Bubbles the belly dancer.

This challenge's theme is bubbles. Of the liquid type. Your image must be of a bubble or multiple bubbles. The Bubble/s must be the dominant element in the photo.

This means that the bubbles must be derived from, and show clear evidence of, being derived from and associated with some form of liquid. And the bubbles themselves must be clearly evident, and they must be the dominant element of the image.

So, Bubbles the bellydancer is out, as is that big pile of bubble wrap. And that photo of your morning cappuccino, just showing the cup and the contents, is also out.

If you have any questions, the mods will be happy to help ensure that you are within the boundaries of the theme.

And once your image is submitted, and if you are unsure if it complies to the theme, you can PM MHD who will organise a spot ruling.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

"This comp will really BLOW!"

Ahhh thar she blows! ....

Great idea and topic for the challenge. I'm guessing this was decided over a glass of bubbly or two? I'm bubbling with excitement now....ok so I overdid it :P

Sounds great mods

The bellydancer and bubble wrap are self explanatory but could you elaborate on the cappuccino.
I can't see which rule would count it out.

Thank you Scott.

This will certainly be an eggciting challenge.

Damn! Wrong pun! :)

And yes, we have some prizes on offer for this challenge too.

So, y'all get cracking. ( Damn! Wrong pun again. :) )

We already have a reason to feel good about this challenge! There HAVE to be less bad puns about bubbles than eggs ;) ...Surely!

Looking forward to seeing the takes on this challenge, has lots of potential for some really classy shots :)

If it's a shot of the cup of coffee, where the bubbles are not really evident as being bubbles, then it's out. If it's a macro of the froth, that would be fine.

There's a difference between an image of a cup of coffee, and an image of the foam and bubbles, and that's where we're drawing the line.

The same sort of distinction would apply to a schooner of beer.

And if you have a shot - or a concept - that you wish to explore and get a spot ruling on, then please take advantage of contacting Scott and doing so. We aew more than happy to help you get the best image, and getting the spot ruling is a great way to ensure tht your concepts comply with the theme.

And if you get a cappuccino with bubbles big enough to take a photo of, send it right back and ask for a decent cappuccino (after you have taken your shot of course).

Great theme! Well done folks.

What I like about this is that it should really bring out some stunning photography; lighting, backgrounds and composition will be crucial to capture these elusive creatures..

Good luck everyone. I'm really looking forward to seeing this gallery.
