With the start of the month just around the corner I suggest we take on this little challenge:
An image a day for 31 days.
Q. How does it work???
A. Simple, you need to take at least one image a day for the month of October.
Q. Can I take more than 1 image a day???
A. Yes you can, however you can only submit 1 image a day (so make it your best).
Q. Are there any prizes for the best image of the month???
A. Yes there is... The warm fuzzy feeling you will feel inside knowing you produced the nicest image of the month (who said anything about material prizes?)
So if you want to take up this challenge post your name here.
I am trying to work out a way we can use my Smugmug account to display all the images. The only way I can think of at the moment is people e-mail me there images and then I upload them nightly into a gallery. I thought this would be more organised then everyone just posting into a thread on the message board.
Any thoughts???
Cheers,
W00DY

Hey MHD,
If the baby arrives in October I can gaurante you will take at least 1 image a day, fair enough we will be sick of baby photos by the end of the month though
Any suggestions on how to display the images? Should we just add our image to this thread (or a new one) each day or shoudl we try and get them in one place?

I might be able to do something with my site...
But I would have to limit the size of the images..
Would people be interested in that?
I could create a sub album at http://potofgrass.ath.cx/gallery and give all those who want to submit accounts...
That could be fun!

If we can upload our own images that is a great idea (that way there is no admin work for you).
I can create a gallery on my SmugMug account but I have to upload all the images (which I'm happy to do if needed).
I think one place for all the images is a good idea though.

Yep I should be able to do it on my site...
PM me your username, and email and I will create accounts...
feel free to test by uploading images, but please keep them small (Limit of 500K, smaller if you can!)
We should set a size for uploads, say 800*600
I think the software I use even has options for a vote as well.. will have to take it for a test

Crikey, pressure.
This is not an easy challenge, and yet.....bring it!
I'm in.
Hopefully, there will be a tolerance for crap.

Huge thanks to MHD for this kind offer. I have tested and the upload works.
In addition to limiting your images to 800*600 I think we should also have a naming convention for each image. I suggest we use the following:
imagename_user_date (example: building_W00DY_011004)
It also looks like you can delete / edit ANY image in the gallery once you are logged in, if this is the case please be very careful and only edit your own images if need be.
This challenge should be fun.

If I have a bad day at work you might only get a picture of my big toe
The idea is to get people using their camera more and documenting a month of there life.
There are NO quality standards here, somedays you might feel creative other days you won't... That's the idea.

He's quiet on the last few days, I believe, he's very busy and trying to learn how to change nappies and bottle feeding to his newborn baby.

I'm Back.. Gory details of the Birth to come in another thread...
Anyways welcome all to the challenge... One important thing to remember is to PLEASE resize your images on your own computer before uploading them... Maximum of of 500K but even better if smaller (have a look at the size of the medium images in my albums, that is how big the medium will be in the d70 album... and most people will only look at the medium)
This should be fun!

You wouldn't beleive it...
To make this challenge that little bit harder I have pulled all the muscles in the back of my neck and can hardly move my neck at all
So don't expect any exciting images from me for the first couple of days untill I get movement back again.
But don't worry I will still take an image a day

That's no good Woody, but look on the bright side, at least you have an excuse - whatever you come up with will be viewed in the context of a courageous struggle against adversity.
Whereas, anything I do will be judged on its merits. Oh boy, am I ever in trouble.

Send MHD a PM and he will set you up with a user name and password. You can then add images to the website and vote on other images, or leave comments.
You don't need to upload everyday if you can't but you do need to take an image everyday and then label them with the correct date.
Read through the other messages as there some size limits to the images.
Hope you enjoy the challenge and look forward to seeing your images.

Thanks MHD - I guess I was at 70mm on the kit lens, and about as close to the ivy as I could be to get focus, so the dof was very shallow.
Yes, the old red bricks are a great backdrop for the ivy, and the late sun gave a redder look.
I like all the shots - day one has been a success!

Long story
It all came about when I was playing with scripts in povray (3d raytracer) that made grass blades but took forever to render a lawn so I made a pot of grass...
Now I thought this was a clever marketing name (two drug references in one sentance...) So pot of grass productions was born!
