I urge you all to read the FAQ too since there is new stuff related to phpbb3 eg you can have a friends and foes list and there's a new bookmarking feature. My fave new thing is you can Save a post in draft format and edit and submit it later thus saving the need to retype it. Peter

Re: A new lookNew layout's looking really good guys, congrats! Loving the increased 50 posts per page too.
Re: A new lookThe time that you guys put into this forum always has been incredible, and now you have revamped the forum pages to come up with a great new look is indicative of your drive, determination and perseverance and is super incredible!
Congratulations and well done! Cheers Graham (It's bloody wet and cold in Shanghai today) I love the chook but I'm not sure exactly what the chook graphic means.

Re: A new looklooks great! nice, clean and slick design.
just getting used to everything mirrored to everyone involved with the move!

Re: A new lookYup, first looks are really good. Well done to all involved.
The increased number of posts per page sits really well with me, and I do like the default board layout with poster details on the right. It's probably just me with my one blind eye but I notice them easier over there. The rendering of the forum logo doesn't come up too well on either of my monitors (BenQ 19" LCD; ViewSonic 17" Beastie) Take care Bob in Bull Creek
Re: A new lookAfter submitting my previous post, I waited for the thread to redisplay itself. When it did so, all the avatars were lost (replaced with the red cross) except my own. Is this due to a setting I have wrong? I've looked through CP and can see nothing visibly amiss.

Re: A new lookgreat new look.... after I changed it to DSLR_modernV1
I'm glad you made this look as I find it the clearest and easiest to read I'm not sure if it is on all the looks for the portal page but can you adjust the left side padding on your announcement section as the type is to close to the border for comfort thanks for the update and the whole forum/website/community it is one of the best that I belong to
Re: A new lookOK, BBCode works for me now, too.
Re: A new lookI don't think that the recent posts on the front page are being updated.
Sorry - it looks as though it is updated, but the newest post doesn't rise to the top like it used to. TFF (Trevor)

Re: A new lookI was also having a few of the issues but they seem to be resolved... see
The only issue I have at the moment is that the forum does not remember me I have tried clearing my cache but no go. I am using Safari.
Re: A new look
I had the same problem but what I've done now is to go in the portal, log in, bookmark that page into my browser, now every time I use that bookmark, I am logged in.
Re: A new lookNice.. now I've changed to Nikon Glass it perrrfect..
good Work Guys, MATT
Re: A new lookThis is all going to take a bit of getting used to!!
I noticed this - I also have to login again everytime I go to the page and each time it tells me there are over 300 new posts since my last login, even if it was 10 minutes ago. Thanks for the tips from previous posts - the avatars are now on the left again And thanks Gary (and Leigh) for the amount of work you put into this site!
Re: A new lookWow this new look is great. Something new to look at means I can put off purchasing that new gear I was thinking about.
The amount of work that went into this must be incredible, very generous of all involved. The new skins look great, especially the Nikon Glass. Well done guys. Craig
Re: A new look
I tried this before I posted and it still does not work for me... I'll try logging out properly, then go to the portal, log in and then bookmark. fingers crossed.
Re: A new look
This worked Looked like I had to log out using the link and then close, re-open Safari. Thanks Philip.
Re: A new lookCongratulations Gary and Leigh on doing a very smooth upgrade.
These things are not easy. Cheers John
Re: A new lookHi Keith,

Re: A new lookThis might just be a weird permissions issue, or just something that I don't get, but I notice that when on the main page, logged in, using FF, and clicking on the "The Team" listing, under the Menu/Content section, there are a series of drop down boxes next to the moderators names.
I don't really know what they achieve for the average user, or if they should be there? Just wondering more than anything, really
Re: A new lookOutstanding work gentlemen!
The new board has a lot of bells and whistles but I still can't get it to fix my photos, do the washing up or take the dog for a walk. (Kindly disregard if you're already working on these patches)
Re: A new lookHaving the same problems here about the site 'remembering me' when logged in.
Cookies are ok. I've even closed the tab and opened a new one and still have to log in. Win XP Firefox 2.0.0.11 Will try on my Mac when i get the chance
Re: A new look
That would be the forums that they moderate. here, it's universal - they can moderate any and every section - but I've seen boards where they have one mod for a few sections, and a different mod for some other sections. In that sort of a situation I can see how this feature would be useful, but for us, it really doesn't do much. g.

Re: A new look
Yeah, i thought this was fixed for me but just came back and the board had forgotten me
Re: A new lookCheers for the comments all.
I've still go to go through the tweaking. Nikon and Canon are likely to be slightly better tweaked than the Modern since I've spent more time on those and then moved to another project. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Re: A new lookWow, looking good!
Re: A new lookThe site looks great.Well done .Great layout and very neat Only thing i'd like to see back is the little screen logo with the 42 in it.That was very cool.
Re: A new lookI like the new look, feels warmer
Re: A new lookThanks for all your time and effort on this guys! It definitely has a more modern look and I think it's great that we can choose which format we want the board to have - this thread already shows the difference in people's preferences.
I haven't explored around much yet, but will in time. (And I won't ask any questions until I've read the FAQs! ) Cheers, L
Re: A new look
New posts is working great now Still have to relogin every time ...... I might try the bookmark thing .......
Re: A new look
seems to be the trick.
Re: A new lookGreat work on the new look, looks great and a pretty smooth transition. Now to go read the faq and try out the new features.
thanks heaps. André
Re: A new lookFor those who like the default style/theme but would like the username and avatar displayed on the left instead of the right, here is a quick solution (sorry, Firefox users only).
Download the "Stylish" extension here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108 Then create a style (copy and paste this):
This is a quick solution until the CSS for the default style is changed. Works fine for me so far. And I have tried the "remember me" option in both firefox and IE7 now and I can't stay logged in. Tried the logging out and bookmarking but that didn't work. The cookie just isn't set. Last edited by cawdor on Sun Jan 13, 2008 2:25 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: A new lookYesterday everything was fine, today Firefox crashes every time I access this forum Does not happen with any other site I go to
Re: A new look
That happened to me too a few times today. Firefox becomes unresponsive and after I close it I have to shut down the process manually. I also just noticed that even though I am logged in and I did not tick the "stay invisible" box I am not shown as "browsing this forum". Not that I mind, it just shows that something isn't right.
Re: A new lookCongratulations on a great job. Thanks for your time and dedication.
Re: A new lookMy login isn't being stored either, cleared cookies, tried logging into the portal page, forums page, clicking hidden, not clicking hidden, logging in then loggin out then in again.
Using FF 2.0.0.11 on XP.
Re: A new look
i was going to query the exact same thing (other internet forums work fine for me)....
Re: A new lookmmm... ok... I'll provide the dissenting voice out here and suggest that the orginal look and feel was (in my view) far easier and less noisy than what is on offer now.
An upgrade to a newer base system was always going to happen and I'd be the last person not to appreciate the effort involved !!! BUT ... so far I'm not a fan of the look and feel of any of the new themes in comparision to the orginal... I'll spend a little more time with it and see how it all goes... maybe I'm just a grumpy old stick in the mud !!! Michael.
Re: A new lookThe crashing of Firefox whilst in dslrusers is now becoming constant with this message being shown on crash
Date/Time: 2008-01-13 18:04:27.685 +1100 OS Version: 10.4.11 (Build 8S2167) Report Version: 4 Command: firefox-bin Path: /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin Parent: WindowServer [101] Version: 2.0.0.11 (2.0.0.11) PID: 11780 Thread: 0 Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001) Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xbf7fe628
Re: A new lookI'm using Firefox 2.0.0.11 and I'm not seeing any crashes, and since I cleared the cookies this morning the site has remembered me all day - previously it would only remember me for a session.
I'm on WinXP, though, unlike Chris.
Re: A new looklooks great, very different, just having to re-login each time becomes a pain
Re: A new lookThanks for the work guys, looks good and I haven't even checked out the skins and whatnot yet.
Re: A new lookHey guys
I'm having trouble posting images from smugmug. I keep getting the message below "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image."
Re: A new lookGary trying to upload an image in the normal way and get a message that the system is unable to find the size of the image. Others seem to be having the sane problem although they may not have posted here.
Re: A new look
Saved me posting the same thing!
