Quotes of the day

As I took this photo, I remembered the lyrics:

Morning has broken like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing fresh from the Word!

There is something magical happening each dawn, wherever you happen to be. In my case, I was on the River Rhône. It was a foggy morning.

In Madrid, the Chocolatería San Ginés (near Puerta del Sol and founded in 1894) is famous for its chocolate for churros and you normally have to wait in a long queue to get a table and then be served. I took this particular picture in a bar near where my sister li ...

The church was built by Serbian Australians, who settled in Coober Pedy as opal miners. Because of the hot climate, it was decided to build a church under the ground. The church was built by volunteers and it is consecrated to Saint Elijah the Prophet.

The group of young students sit in front of the Picasso’s Guernica painting at the Reina Sofia. Out of the picture their teacher calls some students by their name asking to explain what they see in the famous painting. The students gave some very insightful remarks about the horrors of war and how they are shown in the picture. A student compared the suffering and destruction with Gaza.

I must admit I have rarely used my camera over recent months, at least since the Avalon airshow in early March of this year. My grandkids are growing up too fast and I think it's time to dust off the old (2 yrs old) R6 and take some pikchers. I love portraits above anything else and I am in huge debt to Gary Stark and this forum for developing my love of photography, and for making me broke at times with gear acquisitions... :biglaugh:
