Get your entries in for challenge7 (my standard bump thread)

Postby MHD on Tue Oct 11, 2005 6:41 pm

OK!!!
So this is the thread that I will BUMP every day (that I remember to make sure people get thier entries IN for challenge 7!!!

Reasons why EVERY Australian member with 10 or more posts should enter the challenges:
*By conforming to the theme you push your skills by shooting something you may not always shoot
*You will be in the running for some SUPERFANTABULOUSAMAZING prizes
*Images that win the challenges improve in Value...
*Great for the portfolio (you can say you have won a national photography prize which is highly contested)
*Great for benchmark setting... "So you may not have scored a place but you improved your position on last year"
*Almost every photo recievces some feedback tips and tricks!

we have THREE entries in so far I want to see HEAPS!!!!!!!!!

Remember you can submit an image and change your submission right up until the respective galleries close.,..

GO AND SHOOT SOMETHING/SOMEONE!

can I ask what the purpose of the placeholder image is ?

Is there a limit on how many people can enter ?

A bit confused   :?

Dave

You can enter one image in round 1 and one image in round 2. If you don't enter round 1 you can still only enter one image in round 2, so if you enter in both rounds you've got two images up for consideration.

If you have an image that you're not quite happy with and are hoping to get a better one, enter the one you have in round 1. If you then get a better image and round 1 hasn't closed you can then replace it and try for an even better one for round 2 BUT if you don't get a better image your "less than perfect" one is in already rather than you missing the close of round 2 and having no image in.

thanks Stubbsy...that's what I thought.

personally, I'm not sure why I would want to post a photo I'm not quite happy with, just so I make it into round one....especially considering the calibre of entries (from previous challenges). I don't think a "so-so" photo would cut it !
I will most certainly be trying my best to get 2 images to enter, but if I don't get one I'm happy with before the end of round one, I'll be happy to miss out.

So that if you forget to enter your best image you at least have an entry in...

Basically if you have an image and you think "Hmm... but I think I can do better over the next few days" you should just enter it and change it later!

even if I think it's not worthy ?

I agree that everyone's interpretation of an image will vary and some may think it's fantastic - but I still think the entrant should feel good about the image.....not enter just for the chance to win a D70s.

I want to see everyone's BEST work being submitted, not just any submissions that may win them a prize.....That, to me, IS the challenge. The prizes are just the cream on top !

I have an entry in now that I'm VERY happy with. I also have a concept for a different entry. If that concept works, is better than my placeholder and is done by the end of this round I'll replace the placeholder. Next round my current placeholder will go in unless I have something even better (or I didn't get my concept entry in by close of round 1).

I agree - putting in a poor entry as a place holder is pointless.

Alpha, are you in the states at the moment? If so I can't imagine that you are having trouble capturing something uniquely "movement" themed.

It's like The Beatles in Help, but the other way around. :?

Creative juices flowing could be considered movement. :)

A question :?: - the rules state that the pic must be taken with a dslr .......... can I enter a "point and shoot" camera pic just for the practice (even if it doesn't count in the final results)? (like I'm going to come anywhere anyway........   )

He's right only SLR photo's can enter as per the rules, however that doesn't stop you from practicing... just follow the Challenge's theme and post you photos for review and critque :) You won't win a prize but you'll get valuable feedback.

MHD,

I have sent you 2 PM's to sign-up, but I don't think they are getting through the PM system. Hence why I'm now posting here.

How does one sign-up for the challenge and submit their photo?

Cheers.
