Take the "Duck" tour from SunTec City. It is an amphibious boat that takes you out into the harbour.

You'll get good shots of the harbour and the unusual architecture. You'll also go past Merlion spewing water out into the bay.

I've always liked Sentosa for photos and the Zoo is terrific, both daytime and nightime.

There's also Little India and Chinatown that are very colourful.

Depending on how your budget is consider Taxis for tansportation as it isn't that expensive.

A taxi ride from the airport to the Orchard Road are will cost you around AU$25.

There's lots there to discover, but a trip to Sim Lim Square would be a real eye opener for electronics and photographics.

Have fun

Ree,

you'll have a ball over there..... It's one of my favourite cities.

It's clean, safe, affordable and the folks are reasonably pleasant.

Another area to consider going to is the Bugis Street Market and the Chinatown Markets. Lots of stallholders and varieties of tourist stuff that we all buy and then get home and wonder why we did...... :D

Tony...

My hubby isn't looking forward to the stuff I bring home...he ALWAYS has to lug it around
I think he is hoping that I am too busy taking photos to even want to look at the shops...

It wont happen! I'm female the shops are in my blood

I hope that I get to see everything while there, but we are there for a short while (6 days only). Who needs sleep right! Can do that once I am back at work :?

Ree,

If you don't go over there too heavily weighed down, there is a large supermarket in SunTec City that sells the Humidity Cabinets to keep your camera gear in. The price for the medium one in January this year was $129sing.

Photocontinental retail one here a bit smaller for AU$349.

It may be worth considering buying one for storage of your gear.

mmm didn't even think about that... was so excited about going (tickets were a surprise present from my hubby)

We are getting in very early in the morning maybe that should be the 1st thing I buy. Was planning on going into the 24/7 mall a mate told me about, was planning to go shopping 1st off anyway.

Very new to the SLR world. Got my D70 @ christmas time.
I will put that on my must get list.

Thanks Tony

Ree,

I think the weight was 12kg roughly. They do have the weights maked on the cartons.

Coming home the airline check in staff at Singapore are a little forgiving weight wise I've always found but I wouldn't go too far.

Ree,

Some great suggestions from Tony there about what to see and do.

Here are some more for you to consider

Jurong Bird Park - great opportunity to take photos of the all kinds of birds.
Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve - a more natural environment for bird and other wildlife watching (although to take photos of birds here, you'll probably need a 400mm+ lens)
Pulau Ubin - great for a walk or bicycle ride, some good opportunites for landscape, wildlife, macro, and abstracts with the old houses and village life.
Botanic Gardens - great for macros of flowers and plants

If you're out at the zoo, you can also check out the Mandai Orchid Garden for flower shots.
