[SYD] North Bondi - Sunset 27.8.2011

Since the sunrises are getting quite early, and somewhat inconvenient, I think it's time to scope out some sunset locations. Sunset is at 1730 so maybe turn up at 1630 or so. There is a bit of rain forecasted so fingers crossed for cloud action.

I have scoped this one out before, and seems promising. There won't be any wave action as we will be up on the cliff facing the sunset and the beach.

I am guessing that there will be a few opportunities for a pano or two. Last time I was there, I got stuch without a camera for a spectacular rainbow display with bootiful colors.

Who is in?

I'm keen too - just have to get the all ok from she who must be feared :)

Cam - assuming I'm coming would you like me to swing by the city and pick you up near work?

Given we're going to be out till well after sunset would we like to all do dinner somewhere afterwards as well?

I was coming but got delayed with traffic and lights of the traffic variety  so ended up giving up heading for Mrs Mac's Chair so that I would get something to take home.

Sunrise was nice & colourful in both the east and western sky as you have well demonstrated :D

I didn't realise you got some shots of the fisherman before he tried to break his leg running from the wave and attempting to recover his bags.

I like your last image - nice subtle colour and water action - have you considered cropping the bottom (just above that exposed rock on the left)?

Ray - very nice work as usual. I think I find the large tree on the left distracting - I'm not sure whether I like that silhouette or not - have you considered a square crop?

lol, yeah saw that coming a mile away.

I did think about the pano style crop, however I felt the rocks lost alot of impact with such a crop, the rocks are my main draw card in teh shot so I did not want to minimise them.

surenj wrote:He didn't even have his camera out of the bag then....

i call it the 'jet lee' photography style, so damn fast you did not even see it :)

no problems, you know we always good for it.

I reckon you need a bit of contrast just on the lower part of that image and on the headland to remove that hazy look.

yeah the coffee was OK, certainly better than the usual dishwashing water you typically get.

In terms of the nespresso pods, I never liked the concept, that said I reckon it would suit certain people and give adequate results. For some people coffee is just a drink, others its a complete process hence you need to buy in the appropriate realm, eg. I like to control teh whole process with little automation, this equals some great coffeee and some really shit coffee, but I own teh process :). I know others that just want to press the button and are not concerned (overly) with teh taste.

lol, i gave them a high score since they actually had heating :rotfl2:

Going further off topic - we have the nespresso pods at work. For a cup of coffee, they are convenient. For convenience, they are. 'nuff said. I need two pods to get a coffee of decent enough strength in terms of flavour.

Delving further off topic - received a cold-filtered coffee maker as an early birthday present - simply divine coffee and a thing of beauty. That said, you don't grab a quick cup of 5 hour prepared cold-filtered.
