Nikon at PMA

Postby gstark on Wed Jun 22, 2011 3:54 pm

I've just received a press release from Nikon about the stuff they'll be doing at PMA.

Of general interest should be the free sessions they'll be holding throughout the weekend.

Amongst the presenters will be noted rock photographer Tony Mott, Top wedding 'tog Rocco Ancora and David Oliver - Grand Master of Photography.

Might be worth a visit ...

This year Nikon will be back at PMA (Photo Marketing Australia), with free talks from our Ambassadors Rocco Ancora, Jasin Boland, David Dare Parker, and David Oliver. You'll also have the chance to listen in on talks from Nikon School Lecturers Alex Vaughan and Christian Blanchard along with rock photographer Tony Mott and Geoff Young.

The PMA Imaging & Entertainment Expo is full of seminars, conferences and events and will run on Saturday 25th of June from 10am to 5pm and Sunday 26th June from 10am to 5pm. If you are a keen amateur or would love to learn more about photography, these seminars are perfect for you.

Full schedule here, of interest is the video on DSLR

Actually, they just sent me the press release, in a text format. Much better than the PDF, which included info that prevented me from publishing it here.

Nikon's PMA Press Release wrote:NIKON UNVEILS EXCITING PROGRAM FOR PMA 2011

Nikon Australia is preparing to wow fans at this year’s PMA Australia Imaging & Entertainment Expo, showcasing its entire camera range and a wide selection of consumer and professional lenses and accessories. Providing product demonstrations by some of Nikon’s leading photography specialists, consumers will be able to get hands-on with everything Nikon has to offer. In addition, Nikon has broadened their Nikon School consumer education offering with a dedicated second stand where a series of back-to-back workshops will take place; led by AIPP accredited photographers and Nikon Ambassadors from the world of fashion, showbiz, photo-journalism, adventure sports and more.

Nikon is kicking off its exciting plans for PMA Australia 2011 with a Nikon Ambassador meet and greet cocktail event on Thursday evening (23rd June). This exclusive event offers the passionate My Nikon Life community the chance to mingle with Nikon Ambassadors and acclaimed photographers such as Jasin Boland, Mark Watson and Christian Blanchard in a personal and intimate setting.

All Nikon cameras will be on display, from the recently released COOLPIX and consumer DSLR range to the Pro Series DSLRs including the D3X. Consumers are invited to get up close and personal with the products with a COOLPIX and consumer DSLR, and a long lens demonstration area where Nikon product specialists will be available to give expert advice.

A range of lenses and accessories will also be on display including Nikon’s recently released 50mm f/1.8G lens and ME-1 microphone.

Visitors to the Nikon stands will also be able to see the new I AM NIKON brand campaign come to life. The campaign, which launched in March, is a multi-year activation spanning all mediums from web to print to cinema and TV to in-store and product tours, encompassing all Nikon products from compact COOLPIX cameras to consumer and professional DSLRs. The brand campaign featuring Jamie Oliver and Robbie Williams has had a great impact in the local market to date.

Looks interesting.

Apart from having a ticket to PMA, is there anything else to do before you attend? Do you need to register etc?

Suren
You can register online for the Friday session and get in for free. Just put yourself down as a professional photographer or salesman or something. I think you've earned the right to get in for nothing because of all the posts you've made this year. Truely....you are a NIKON ambassador! :agree: :agree: :agree:

Announcements? At an Australian PMA?

:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Seriously, do keep in mind that Friday is not for the general public, so as Matt says, remember to bring your industry credentials.

But some of those sessions do look to be quite interesting.

As to other stuff, there's a Nikon function this evening, and a Canon breakfast even on Saturday morning. 8:30 even. :violin:

I'll post the Canon info that arrived last evening in a little while.

Well nothing special just the D400, D4, a 200-400 f2.8 FX, a 50 f0.95, a digital Nikonos and a replacement for the macro flashes that use AA batteries.

Ok ... I looked more closely at the Canon info I got ...

Canon PR wrote:Hi Gary,

Hope you’re well.

Canon do have a few things going on over the three days – I have highlighted a few of them below.

Canon will be having two stands this year – along with the Canon booth there’ll also be a stand dedicated to bringing the famous World of EOS to life.

The other two items were about getting one-on-one interviews with some canon people, including the Canon Pro programs (that may be worthwhile doing ... ) and the Saturday breakkie.

That was it.

Greg, I've just heard that those announcements have been delayed a little. :)

Just back from tonight's Nikon function; I was privileged to be able to have a bit of a chat with Jasin Boland. From the brief chat that we had, I would say that his sessions will be very educational and entertaining.

Charming guy, and struck as being very down to earth.
