Good consistent exposure, good subject and looks great in B&W.

However i would have preferred a tighter crops to highlight the subject (the tree) more. But that's my opinion.

Love the shot Ray, the B&W is definitely a winner.

I don't entirely agree with Killa about cropping - the total image proportion is good I think, and cropping will either change that and make the image squarer, or you will have to lose some foreground.

How would the shot look if you applied the digital equivalent of a red filter before making the BW conversion?

Great shot btw, the B&W make it more attractive. I agreed with GregB.
The Red filter will make it look more marvellous. But just try.

Great shot.
For me the composition works very well.
I think the surrounding trees/shrubs make good natural frame.
A red filter would darken the sky which would enhance this shot even more.
IMHO the picture would look even better if the shrub/tree in the middle wasn't there, showing more of the trunk.
Guess the only solution would be to resort to chainsaw...

Flyer, I walked around to see if I could get the trunk but no go!!
