On Saturday night the weather was very unusual for a winters evening, no dew and cloud free. As the moon was not going to rise until well after 2 in the morning I thought it would be a good time to do some more astro work with my 400mm set up. here are a few results for the night..

Are these with some sort of tracking setup or just 30 sec exposures on highish ISOs?

These are tracked images stacks of 4 min subs around 30 minutes each...

Looks good Big Fella, as usual not that i know what the hell i am looking at as u know LOL but good to see that gear getting a work out, might have to try some night stuff myself if it ever stops raining.LOL

Can you spot these with the naked eye so that you can aim your camera or do you have to use a telescope or something.

For those interested in astrophotography, but lacking the skills (like me) to know their Al Reschia from their Equuleus, I was shown a fantastic app the other day:

Load it up, point your phone into the sky and it'll show you where the planets, stars, constellations etc.

Seems reasonably accurate with my somewhat limited ability to check it. Try it out, it's pretty damn amazing!

1 nad 3 can be seen with the naked eye from a dark sky, the other two require some sort of optical aid..
