Hi all,

After "Death by Dust for the D70" this morning at the Rally of Canberra, I thought I'd share some of the shots.




Nikkor AF 70-300mm 4.5-5.6 G. Not the best lens out there but it'll suffice until I can get my hands on a 70-200 or 80-400.

That's a dynamic image and very well done! Composition is perfect.

daniel_r Top shot matey, The rally i am doing kicks of tomorrow here so early morning for me and well after being around the course today with mate that is in it an an ungodly speed and spent more time with my head on the roof. There is not a lot of good action spots to get into so will hope i can get some good shots.

Great photo, Daniel. Great shot. I've got the same lens and find it a bit too soft at 300 mm. What focal length was this shot taken at?

BBJ: I've been looking at some of your stuff lately - I thought you'd like it

Killa: Mitsu shot in the Subaru sponsored rally... You see, as all the crazed one eyed Subaru supporters (the bunch behind the wall in the blue shirts) would tell you, the factory team cars are so quick, not even a D70 could keep up with em... They'd also argue that the Evo's handling is so poor, and thats why it's on two wheels. BTW: I actually own a Sub, I'm just not as "dedicated" as some of the fans

Alex: this shot was at around 125mm... however, it's probably a 65% crop of the original as there was a concrete wall in the lower half. Shot as ISO 200 with the crop is why there's a little bit of visible noise in the trees behind. The Corolla shot linked above is at 270mm - best strategy for this lens is stay under 280mm if you can, shoot ISO 200 and crop in post. The other thing to note... the lens hood is a must!... the inner CA beast gets even more flared up if you don't oblige

I take it the D70 survived the ordeal? Did you do anything special to protect it from the dust, or was it every camera for itself?
