I know from past posts that pictures look different on different monitors. I would love to know how this looks on your screen.
I have posted two pictures the first one has been cropped and I used Auto Contrast to colour balance it. Normally I would do this manually but I want to know how it appears on your screen. To me the surfer appears a little dark.
The second picture has only been cropped and is there as a guide for you.

Love to hear your thoughts.

hmm well the first surfer certainly looks a little dark.. just a crappy 17" monitor here at work, so maybe not the best guide

I dare say the frist shot was earlier in the morning than the second shot. Whether there was any cloud cover or not would also impact, and whether the two shots were taken from the same vantage point with the surfer in the same positon.

The first shot looks far more backlit (lower sun behind the surfer) than the latter one.

JordanP no both were taken within thehour of each other. First one around 8:30.
No cloud cover, it was a lovely Sydney Saturday morning in the "Shire"

Just the colour and darkeness of the water in the background suggests there was something different with lighting ..... or maybe exposure. got me puzzeled

Sorry JordanP I might have confused you here. The first picture has been adjusted in PS and I was wanting to know if it looked too dark on other monitors. The second image is to give an idea of how the rest looked.

Was the only adjustment you did an auto contrast?

The surfer does look a bit dark in the first shot but I would guess that is because the sun was lower and the subject was backlit. The auto contrast function as I know it would take your darkest point in the image to a true black and the lightest point in the image to a true white. Either way I think the surfers face will always be very dark.

Do you still have the original before you photoshopped it?

The surfers face in the second image is a lot clearer but I would say that is because the lighting for that pic was better suited. I think you could apply the same post processing (as in the first image) to the second image without fear of loosing the surfers face.

Mind you if I was the surfer in the first image I would be happy to buy it off you its a nice action pic

Yes contrast was the only adjustment, if you don't count cropping.
Thanks for the info, the orginals are on the server at work, so I will have to have a look at them when I am next in the office.
