meet, greet, shoot and eat

Postby gstark on Wed May 15, 2013 4:26 pm

June 13, somewhere in Sydney.

Open to suggestions as to location, and time of day.

All welcome, of course. Just add your name to the list.

We already have myself and De, and Matt and Philo.

meet, greet, shoot and eat

Postby Reschsmooth on Wed May 15, 2013 5:33 pm

I presume you don't mean June the 13th, using the American date syntax?

June 13, 13.

Smartarse. :)

And I always use American syntax. Except when I don't.

What was the question?

I suggest La Peruse at 3pm for a walk through the cemetery, then watch the sun go down, then dinner at 1 of the small cafes or restaurants there. But open to any suggestions....Blues Point for pasta or pizza and night shoot over harbour? Anyone? Or gabfest at Cabramatta....great cheap food. Other suggestions?

Sounds good to me - I'd be happy with afternoon and/or evening shooting (or both :))

I put my vote in for La perouse. I am going to do sunset at Cruwee cove of nearby, which means dinner at 7:30 for me (however don't change plans for me).
The necropolis over there is good and has some interesting sights, if your into that..

I have no issues with La Perouse as the venue.

That said, I'd also like to be totally inclusive, and try to see if there's some way that we could see if we could get a couple of our less mobile members along as well. To that end, I'll make a couple of phone calls, and see what I can do.

Tempting, but it's a looooong way.
Is there a firm date/time yet?

Wikipedia wrote:La Perouse is a suburb in south-eastern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.

A suburb is not exactly a location with a reasonable meet and greet a group of people scenario.
Can you be more specific?
Lat/Lon?
Street address?
Intersection?

Ah, sorry.

While Wikipedia may be correct, the area suitable for a meet and eat is actually pretty easy to find. Just drive down Anzac Parade till you get to the end - the road loops around.

You're there.

There's a few cafes, the island, the view back towards the airport, the bus terminus, and on June 15, there'll also be a few wayward 'togs. :)

Hey Joe, you going to grace with your presence? And that of your deloverly wife?

On any given day La perouse if full of people with cameras - also known in some circles as photographers :) - particularly so on the weekends.

https://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?msid ... 038aabe955

thats the main food drag, you can park anywhere on the ring road, it could well be chockers in terms of parking at that time, if you get stuck try Goorawahl Ave, its a very nice little side street which is really close and usually has free parks.

Final (maybe) reminder about tomorrow.

Unless you're looking at this post tomorrow, in which case, this is a reminder about today.
