Many of you will be aware of who Margaret Olley is.

Sadly, we lost her this morning.

"How do I want to be remembered? I don't know, for helping people I think. Giving is part of receiving and it's like a wheel that turns and it's part of life. So I like to give as well as receive. I like to give back."

A sad day indeed, I did not know her work or much about her, however there is no doubt she certainly had her head screwed on right, especially given the quote, which I heard on abc radio.

Ditto. It's interesting that sometimes death brings more publicity than the useful work people do when they are alive.

I can recall reading, at the time of the recent Archibald announcement, that she considered that the two winning portraits of her effectively bookended her life.

And thus it was.
