cworld.com.au - 30d + 18-55 lens - $2079

Postby jdear on Sat Jul 08, 2006 7:35 pm

hello all,
saw an add in the SMH for the Canon EOS 30D w/EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II Kit [Black body] - http://www.cworld.com.au/product_info.php?ID=121041

they dont really know what they are on about though, the photo isnt a 30d, and the newspaper add said 5" lcd screen!!

still good value considering I bought the body alone for $2k.

its a cheap and nasty lense, but for $80... :)

Yes it's cheap and nasty. Not sure if it's worth $80 though. ;)

Only buy it if they actually have it in stock. Otherwise you'll get all sorts of conflicting information about delivery times. I eventually gave up after a week and had it delivered from dirtcheapcameras the next day for a little more money.

Hi
In my opinion the kit lens is also good if you are in budget , from ebay only about $50 mint condition because everybody is getting rid of it, but it offers plenty sharpness if stoping it down a bit ( f7 , f8 f10.... ),light weight with a good focal length 18-55 perfect for walkaround if you do not mind about bokeh.. or arty .I've seen a baby photographer in a shoping center , he uses the 20D with kit lens 18-55 , a speedlite transmitter driving two soft boxes in a well controled enviroment and he had several nice pictures with this lens.

Not really. Photocontinental up here (a real shop you can walk into) quoted me $1950 without the kit lens.

I haven't been keeping an eye on the D30's price really. Guess DSLRs are dropping price by the week!

Computerworld http://www.cworld.com.au/
and
Landmark Computers http://www.lmc.com.au/obs/website/index.php

have some great camera deals. They are not camera shops, but prices
are good and who really cares. I got a fantastic deal on the IXUS 55 I
bought for Rosanne at Landmark, and a 2 gig SD card for $79!!!

They have a lot of stores around Melbourne, not sure about other states.

Always worth checking the prices on their websites however.

Too true Greg. My wireless router spat the dummy yesterday so quick trip to Tricky Dickies. A D-Link priced at $118 seemed good value, but not sure if it would work with my Mac. Went home, got onto eBay and got the same model from ITBox for $79 inc postage :)

How long before it arrives though? That time obviously isn't worth $40 to you :)
