For those wanting just the grip with no shutter or battery function (those with large hands who just need a larger grip) there is one available here for $70 (USA)...

Sounds very interesting Birddog, fiber optics, radio relay, etc.
Harbortronics tends to make professional (read expensive) gear

Hey dad, now you can buy me a D70 with the extra grip for my birthday.. Lol.

Mind you, this could open more people to buying one as it would feel much more professional...

I don't see the absence of the grip as being a justification for withholding on the purchase - it's more of an excuse ...
