No, still need an account with them.

Gary,
Be careful when sending to Maxwell with that method, Maxwell may not receive it and it's the sender's responsibilities.

And pls. note: OZExpress does not provide you proof of delivery.

It looks like the safest/most reilable/economical way is by moi - oh well.

Contact Couriers Please and purchase their pre-paid coupons: a book of coupon for metro is around $267.30/ 30 coupons and you may use it for 12 months if not sending a lot of stuff out, btw you can claim it as expenses for your business.
Same day delivery and only required one coupons for Sydney Metro.

Thanh was saying that the cost by taxi would be about the same as the cost of a tank of fuel, not that you'd be using that tank of fuel.

If you have an account with them for standard courier, standard courier's driver won't collect cash or fees.

The Northern Beaches really isn't that far away :P

Geoff,
Wake up and have a nice flat white

A cost of the Taxi Courier to Lidcombe, from Northern Beaches = the cost of full tank of fuel of your car.

Hi Guys
Just an update on my D70, phoned Maxwells today and could not tell me when it would be ready. Parts from Nikon have not arrived and they do not know when. Camera taken Maxwells 20th of Feb.

Gary and Geoff

Rang Maxwells again and asked for the General Manager I was given the CEO number. He was not available but did ring me back. He once again explained that Nikon were very slow in sending parts and he was also frustrated at the lack of service provided by Nikon, however could not do much about it.Nikon do not seem to be into service but only keen on selling. He did say that he contacted Nikon and they promised the parts will be air freighted and should arrive on Wednesday,I hope.
Thanks Gary for your help and will keep you updated.

Jeff,
Sit back and relax.
It's the same replies which few of the BGLOD' s victims received in the past months and this morning from Williamtown, NC.

The reply perhaps was printed out hundred of copies and placed on each desks at Maxwell's office. Human just look onto it and read loudly or answer to the callers.

Well I just got camera back from maxwells, went in on the 20/02.Rang to day and was informed that parts had arrived and would be 5-10 days. I firmly said no and that I would not accept that and I was promised by the CEO that I would be looked after. Picked up camera by 3pm.
Thank you all for your support and helpful advise (Gary).Good luck to all those with the same problem.

Jeff,

Glad to hear that your camera is back home.

It's a shame that you needed to use my techniques - that level of service should be forthcoming without a need to demand it.

But now you have a couple of new tools at your disposal, just in case. ;)

Hi All,

I've only just noticed this thread and I too suffered this dreaded BGLOD about 12 months ago and waited 3 months for Maxwell’s to repair it. Only to have it return after its 3 month repair ordeal and have the AF not work properly. Refer to this link http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?t=5041&highlight=

Like everyone else here I required the power Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and light metering FPC Unit to be replaced.

I was so frustrated with Maxwell's customer service and would rather never deal with them again. Unbeknownst to myself recently, I went to Adelaide Photographic Wholesalers and purchased a Cokin graduated ND Z-Pro filter kit and I was informed it would take a couple of days to get it in. I ended up waiting over 3 weeks for the item to be sent from Sydney to Adelaide......from Maxwell’s no less, only to have one of the lenses scratched. Fantastic!

Awesome service again Maxwell! Well Done! You're ability to upset your customer base continually astounds me. I hate how they have the monopoly of the market here in Australia.

All the best getting your D70 back in a timely fashion Fozzie. I hope you have a better time at it than I did.

Cheers,

Mick.

That's great news Fozzie,

Maxwell seem to have improved their turn around time significantly. I guess they've had the practice with so many D70's going down with the dreaded BGLOD.

Maxwell’s ordinary service alone is enough to make me consider selling up and going to the 'Dark Side'! At least that way you deal directly with Canon Australia not a monopolizing company with no interest in customer service or customer satisfaction.

Congrats again on a speedy return.

Cheers,

Mick.

Well.. we can add my name to this dreaded list. I'm currently up in Brisbane for a funeral. My mom has asked me to take photo's of the event on Monday. guess what.. BGLOD..

I won't be able to get to maxwells in Sydney now for a few weeks. Are they still fixing it under warranty? Also what's there current turnaround?

And to think I was one of those people that thought.. it will never happen to me. Not happy Jan.

I was thinking about that, and to be honest, I wasn't looking forward to carting around a big camera anyway, so i'll just make do with a P&S for it. It's only for my family. Just not looking forward to being without my beloved D70 for who knows how long.. and here's hoping they cover it under warranty even though the camera is way past it's warranty period.

BGLOD is covered anyway, regardless of warranty or non warranty,
just bring it into Maxwell and say loudly: BGLOD
And they understand what happened to your D70, no question ask.

Good to hear.. Now I just have to work out when I can get there. I'm not doing shift work at the moment :(

I think there must be some subroutine in the firmware of the camera that goes something like this.

if cust.situation = important

then camera.situation = BGLOD

else

camera.situation = workingfine

endif

My D70 died last Sunday. Took it in personally to Maxwells on Tuesday at 9am - they quoted about 4 weeks (the guy on the phone on Monday quoted 15-20 working days). And it's covered by warranty.
When I told them I need the camera by May 12 for a photographic/photoshop weekend, they noted it on the job sheet and said they may be able to push it through a bit.
We shall see.

My D70 went in on the 24th of March. 15 working days ago (excluding public holidays)...when I rang last week, they said call up after Easter, which I did today. They tell me it will be another week. When I asked why, they said that Nikon send them between 70-90 of the parts they need to fix this once a month, and they are currently getting 70-90 cameras PER FORTNIGHT. He also said that the BGLOD d70 issue is getting priority over paying customer repairs..

The wait continues :(

They tell me it will be another week. When I asked why, they said that Nikon send them between 70-90 of the parts they need to fix this once a month, and they are currently getting 70-90 cameras PER FORTNIGHT. He also said that the BGLOD d70 issue is getting priority over paying customer repairs..

The wait continues :(

As said before, you should send it in with abox of chocolate or bring a stem of rose with you, then it'll be faster

I was quoted 3 to 4 weeks on the SB800 just prior to Easter. I can wait I have the R1C1 to play with anyway. :)

Great Geoff - when you collect it and they give you the D70 just tell them that they have made a mistake and you want your D2X :P
