 Hi Everyone,
I just called Canon to confirm how much a Sensor Clean was and they told me $80... now is that alot? To me it is...

They said I can just walk into the North Ryde office and have it performed but I was under the impression it was a free service???

Can anyone confirm? Has anyone done this?
 Cheers, Trieu

Visit a mini meet and bring a small bottle, fill it with fluid you half the way there, order some pecpads or a cleaning kit online (plenty of references and links all over the forum here). Get a free demo of how to do it yourself at a minimeet and never consider paying through the nose for a simple easy service you can do yourself.

Buy yourself a rocket blower and never (hopefully) have to do a wet clean. Or upgrade your body every now and then and get a brand new clean sensor. Canon 1D III

Same as Canon HO at North Ryde, yes, they charge quite stiff to get a five minutes job done, perhaps less than 5 minutes if you know how to do it.
It's not free or perhaps free for first service as any car yard (but then it's garbage).
 Their hourly rate should be $80.00 x 12 units = $960.00
 It's kind of F.....king ripped off Birddog114

But do you really need a wet clean?
My D2 camera bodies only had two wet cleans for the last 2.1/2 years.Birddog114

Yes, of course! 50 buck per sensor clean compared to 80 bucks.
30 bucks saving at one hit. If you do it ten times, you nearly have enough fund to buy another 350D Last edited by birddog114 on Thu May 18, 2006 3:44 pm, edited 1 time in total.

You probably don't need a wet clean as Petal has already said. I've been using my D70 for 18 months or so and I'm not the most fastidious lens changer in the world In that time I've got tons of dust bunnies, but NEVER had to do a wet clean. The Giotto air rocket gets it every time. Buy one from Birdy.

My apologises for overlooking the blower I wrongly assumed you'd tried this and still weren't getting rid of the dust bunnies.
