ha..take that clouds, you will not thwart me in getting a moon eclipse series! By no means perfect but given the conditions in sydney on the night I am fairly happy to have anything at all.. There are a whole swag of composition options for this, but i felt the simplicity of just the moons was enough, I am keen to hear thoughts on how to improve it.

Nice work Gerry. It might be just me or an illusion of the eclipse but the 3rd and 4th from the right seem to be reversed in the sequence. CraigLifes journey is not to arrive at our grave in a well preserved body but, rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Wow what a ride."

Very nice - any more as it fades back to monochrome?
I like the curved arc - perhaps if it isn't going to be symmetric (level) you could start near the bottom left corner and arc up and across to near the top and then slightly down from the upper right?

I think it should be Gerry: 1 Crowds: 0 Way too early for civilised people to be taking pics but you've ended up with a great result. Too cloudy in the ills @ 11.45 so went to bed..case of good intentions but cloud didn't want to play ball. Did you use your $20 telescope adapter at any point? Image looks fine to me just the way it is

Great work Gerry! The Chinese believe that a dragon is taking a bite out of the moon....so they bang pots and pans and make lots of noise to frighten the dragon away. It always works and the moon returns unscathed thanks to their endeavors. Your challenge next time....is to photograph the dragon. Regards

I probably should get off my ass and do just that, there is lots of resolution, a bit too much really , 300 mb tiff file makes process a bore. CraigVTR wrote:Nice work Gerry. It might be just me or an illusion of the eclipse but the 3rd and 4th from the right seem to be reversed in the sequence.
That would be those clouds, it is actually the correct sequence (time wise) however you are quite correct it looks a bit strange, i have swapped them around to see how it looks - see below Remorhaz wrote:Very nice - any more as it fades back to monochrome?I like the curved arc - perhaps if it isn't going to be symmetric (level) you could start near the bottom left corner and arc up and across to near the top and then slightly down from the upper right?
nah, no more frames, it was past 1 by that stage and I was due for child duties at 6am... A couple of different options below, i will also have a look at the suggestion compo norwest wrote:Tells the story well. Good job well done.
excellent, goal achieved aim54x wrote:Nice work....a quick straighten would be nice

haha..well it was busy next door, but they were certainly not looking at the eclipse Jenno wrote:Way too early for civilised people to be taking pics but you've ended up with a great result.Too cloudy in the ills @ 11.45 so went to bed..case of good intentions but cloud didn't want to play ball.

no early in this equation, just late its not early until you go to sleep. cloudy in gods country! these were taken with the 300mm f4 and TC1.7, typically at f6.7 or f8 and shutter around a second (for the full eclipse) with the iso as required upto 4000. stubbsy wrote:Pefect Gerry

well, how about that, i never knew that, ya learn something new every day now about that dragon, i smell a challenge A couple of variations on the theme..

I did mean a straighten to make the arc symmetrical.
But I do like the diagonal composition.
