D2HsJust read that tthis camera will be released on the 25th March worldwide £2,500 which at today’s exchange rate puts it at just over $6,000 - surely this will not be competitive with the D2x Chris -------------------------------- I started my life with nothing and I’ve still got most of it left
 Re: D2Hs
Chris, You're right! with Aussie 6K, I rather buy the D2x, who's going to pay for the D2Hs at that price? I have the D2H btw, the D2Hs is not much more features and worth than the D2H and the difference is huge. Birddog114

The only thing I've found that the HS has over the H is the extra zoom on the LCD when reviewing images... which has got to be the most totally useless feature Nikon has ever implemented as on the current model, the H, when totally zoomed you can clearly see the pixels as it is. Who use that zoom for reviewing images during the shooting? me not! Birddog114

So the get the zoom on the new body cheaper than the tripod or VR Birddog114

What? The zoom on the HS? That won't solve any problems... Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au Contributor for fine magazines such as PC Authority and Popular Science.

Buy an extra "electronic controlled magnify glass" mount on the LCD screen Birddog114

I've been wanting a pair of NVG since I was a kid. Do Nikon make any NVG-based cameras / lenses yet? Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au Contributor for fine magazines such as PC Authority and Popular Science.

No, Nikon don't make them! Get the NVG from some USAF or US Army Surplus stores and they are lot of fun. I don't know it can be mounted on the lens or not but one day I get them and will try. Birddog114

You can get some excellent results shooting through NVGs with a P&S or a video camera, but due to the smallish exit pupil on the gogs, an SLR doesn't work so well (like looking down a tunnel). The ones available in surplus stores are often old Russian units, and unfortunately the results are not in the same ball park as modern equipment.
Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
Do you have any, Birdy? Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au Contributor for fine magazines such as PC Authority and Popular Science.

digitor, I have one from the US surplus stock that mount onto the flight helmet for the rotary wing, brand new manufactured date 01/ 09, current use with the flight helmet on Blackhawk. Ok, I had try it on the 50/1.4 but required an adaptor which could not be found yet! I'll try hard to source it or mofifying if I'm back to the States in June, at that time I'll pick up a new NVG kit for the HGU-55(Helmet) from Andrews AFB, CA, good try to see if I can integrated them with the smallest lens as 50 or 45P. Lot of fun if I can. Last edited by birddog114 on Fri Mar 18, 2005 1:45 pm, edited 2 times in total.

It sounds like you've got the best available to civilians, using a Gen 2 Image Intensifier tube, and they're WAY better than the Russian stuff! You'll have a lot of fun playing with those. Perhaps you'd feel like playing a round of golf one night? Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
Good for night out on the remote beaches Birddog114

Birdy wants to use it down at Bondi beach, but at night, with the 200-400VR.
Mounted, of course. On the D2X, that is. He wants to get some action shots. g. Gary Stark Nikon, Canon, Bronica .... stuff The people who want English to be the official language of the United States are uncomfortable with their leaders being fluent in it - US Pres. Bartlet
