Had to show you guys this image.
This is the guy that reffed my sons soccer game today. (SERIOUSLY!).
Complete with bare feet, 1970's "Stubbies" shorts (Winnie Blues & lighter in back pocket), and finger whistle method.....inspring to watch!
He ran on after half time with a cigarette in his mouth and then finger whistled both sides back on. Shortly after kick off he moved toward the sideline and flicked the butt off. Great stuff!
To his credit he was actually a damn good ref.

Classic ozzy referee, all he needs now is a stubbie or something.
Great shot though.

A true Aussie. Suppose he left his thongs on the boundary because they were to hard to run in.
 Cheers

 I applaude him.
Any one that gives their time to ref a group of unthankfuls (the losing team)is a great bloke.

But did anyone tell him it is no longer the 70's

Fabulous image, Marcus! What a guy!! Maybe he needs to trade his stubbies for fishnets and a pair of heels?
 Classic! Well caught.

How can you tell he's not wearing a thong from this photo!!?? and why would he wear more than one? I can image they would be hard to run in though, chafe a bit!
Please tell me you call something other than a G-string a thong!!

aha - now it all becomes clear! The idea of a referee dropping his shorts on the sidelines to take off his G-string (what we call a thong here in good olde blighty) was quite a disturbing thought.

we call the underwear a G string here just like you do. Only the yanks call them thongs.

I stand corrected; it seems to have sneaked over the water into our vocabulary as well
We'll be calling trousers pants next, now that could really confuse.....

 Ah yes... Pants...
A wonderful piece of UK slang that hasn't made it over here (or anywhere else) yet... But I know what you mean CC, coz my brother uses it all the time...

Great photo marcus - along with your description, it really gave my wife and I a good chuckle this morning... A real character... He actually reminds me of someone, but I can't put my finger on it...

I can live with Pants - it's the term "Pant" that the fashionistas seem so fond of that I can't bear

Ha ha ha ha..........I still come back to this post and look at my own photo and laugh! Especially now when I see all the comments. Thanks, glad
you enjoyed it as much as me.

Marvin: Maybe you could adjust your avatar slightly to emmulate the classic pose? (I'm still working on changing my avatar since you are the original....it's coming)

Mic: I NEVER drink shandys.........are you showing your true colours?

Stormy: I knew you would have to buy into the Mic/Marcus/Jethro love triangle sooner or later. Looks like it's now a love quadrangle (is that a word?) Beware, we could be in for "stormy weather" pardon the pun.

Charlie: A cryptic question you may now be able to answer (thanks to Stormy) When is a thong, not a thong?

redline: FYO I asked around after the game about this guy, and the word is he is just like a Skyhooks classic. Sorry to get cryptic again!
