I took the picture of people having tapas at the Mercado de San Miguel (St Michael Market) of this week last time I visited Spain in September 2019 (pre-coronavirus). I hope you like it.

It looks like weddings are coming back.
I just shot an Indian wedding in Clearwater, FL. I hope it is going to become a growing trend.

Storm season

It seems the NSW north coast is in a never ending storm season. My guess is that it will be like this for the entire summer. With that comes never ending humidity and rain, but also spectacular skies, especially after a storm. Last night we were treated to a perfectly formed and coloured rainbow which seemed to last for ever. Then came the fruit bats who grace our skies each and every evening at dusk, in their thousands, flying to orchards somewhere to fill their little bellies before returning to their trees to sleep upside down all day long.

No fireworks in Brisbane to celebrate the New Year, but we walked through the Enchanted Garden in the evening and saw a beautiful display of lights illuminating trees, plants and the fountain.

Hello

I took the picture of this week at the San Lorenzo del Escorial Monastery north of Madrid in Spain. It is traditional in Spain to build a Bethlehem (Belen in Spanish) to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I take this opportunity to wish you and your love ones a Merry Christmas with much love, health and happiness.

This altarpiece is called El Transparente (The Transparency) an it is one of the many altarpieces in Toledo's Cathedral. The reason for its name is that to illuminate it they had to open two skylights in the thick walls and ceiling of the building. One skylight above, which gives the impression of heavenly light and one from behinds the monument to filter through the marble.

Yet another camera added to the stock of photographicalistic implements. Actually I sold off my lightly used but superb Panasonic G9, having got a screaming deal on brand new Olympus pocket behemoth, that being the E-M1x. Why you may ask? Why not I say. Early Christmas present. Who says the M43 can't take picktures in low light?

I took this picture as we were walking the castle in the medieval city of Trujillo, the birthplace of Pizarro (Spanish conquistador). You can imagine the knights on horseback going through the main gate to the courtyard. In the distance, a curious tree and a cloud seem to look at the incoming tourists.

I took the picture of this week from the castle hill that overlooks the ancient and medieval city of Burgos. I like this photo because it blends old traditions and religious beliefs represented by the massive old cathedral bang in the middle of an old and medieval city and the need for new technology and more efficient ways represented by modern apartment buildings and the wind turbines in the horizon.
